McGill Cycling started 2012 off with an impressive weekend of racing at Princeton's New Jersey Devil. Despite gloomy forecasts, the weather played nice and the roads stayed mostly dry. Saturday's road race and Sunday's individual time trial both featured significant climbs, where the team's early season training camp in the mountains of South Carolina was a significant advantage. In what is likely to be the biggest race weekend of the season, McGill sent almost 20 riders to show the Americans how it’s done in Canada. The team fought its way to a fifth place ranking at the end of the weekend, beating top cycling teams like the University of New Hampshire and the University of Vermont. Along the way, the team earned praise for its determination, grit, and it’s spectacular tie-died knee-warmers.

The first weekend of the year down and although Cycling@McGill may not have made the same splash at Rutgers as it did in 2009, the infamous McGill bus of Rutgers 2009 but left the sports crazy town of Piscatawy, New Jersey by making a splash with the newly recruited tri-athletes.
