Does anyone have experience using a KMC chain with the quick connect link?

I like the idea of being able to take apart the chain without a tool for cleaning, but I don't know if they are as strong/smooth/quiet as Shimano

You can put a wipperman quick link in a shimano chain and then you have a good chain that you can take off and clean. I also know that wipperman chains are supposed to be pretty reliable, so i would go wipperman over kmc

I've been using the KMC links for quite some time now - they make link units that are directly compatible with either the campy 10spd and shimano/SRAM 10spd.

I think they come out to be roughly 3-4$ which is IMO far superior than having to mess with those master pins - I really hate those things.

Something else very important to keep in mind. KMC is Shimano's OEM manufacturer; they make the Shimano chains to spec and have their own product line as well.

It all comes down to what you can find in terms of cost - getting OE shimano and buying the link, or getting the KMC unit with the link. Or getting a wippreman chain.

Wipperman is also excellent and I'd definitely plug their campy 10spd products with the Connex links.

Sram 10sp Powerlock is a one shot use link, 8/9sp power link is reusable.

Watch out when you are buying your link as 10sp campy and 10sp shimano/sram don't use the same dimensions. Just use a quick link that is from a chain compatible with your groupset.

Don't use the quick-link manufactured by shimano for their new 10sp dura-ace / ultegra groupo, it still wears out quicker than the rest of the chain.
